oninit -r

Hi to all,

I have noticed lately that in one of my Database Servers (using IDS INFORMIX 11.5) there are some process called oninit -r.
The strange thing is that it seems that there is no option -r in oninit command so i dont understand how these processes exist.
In the first couple of days that i found them i try to kill the commands to see if they are going to start again and i see that they do.
What can be the cause of that?

Thank you for your attention

If you Google the exact phrase "oninit -r" you will find much information. Perhaps some which matches the history of what has happened to your database?

Killing "oninit" is not a good idea which may be why your database has started in recovery mode.

there are two types of oninit commands that i find in the system.
the one is oninit -v and the other oninit -r.
the oninit -v i know what it is and i never kill it because it will stop my instance.
but oninit -r is like coming from nowhere.

oninit -i (DONT RUN THIS - -i will inital a new rootdbs and rebuild the informix server)
oninit -v ( is just verbose mode) the reason its killing ur process, is probably because informix is still running. when you shutdown informix onmode -cky you can start it back with either oninit or oninit -v same thing.
