Directory named "~" that points to root
I don't know how this got here, but in a directory on one of my servers I see a directory named ~ that points to root. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before. I'm affraid to delete it in case it wipes out everything on root.

Thanks for the great explaination.

I did an unlink \~ and that seemed to do the trick without any harm. I have no idea how that got there. I was writing an perl script on that system during the time the directory was created, but there's nothing in my script that creates directories. Weird ... anyways thanks for the reply.
