I think that the version of solaris ist not importent (2,7,8,9) but your CPU you are running. The older SPARC, SuperSPARC and HyperSPARC will not be supported. It think its start at UltraSPARC(I).
SUN Solaris 10 will be the greatest OS on the world!
The Flash Archive is really really great! Solaris required hundreds of patches which makes an installation very (too) long, once your archive created you can install a workstation in 10 minutes (with a 100Mb full duplex network).
I use it with jumpstart but you can also use it with a CD/DVD setup.
Moreover you can acces it via NFS, WWW or FTP and it's easy to configure.

I am not able to find the patching procedure for solaris 10 ( sol10 u11) to latest patchset with sun cluster having failover zones so that same I should follow.
