SUN Netra 240 Boot error

Hi,

When I am trying to boot my SUN Netra 240 Machine its giving some boot error.

> {1} ok boot -i
Code:
> Boot device: /pci@1c,600000/scsi@2/disk@0,0:a File and args: -i
> Boot load failed.
> The file just loaded does not appear to be executable.
> {1} ok

I tried to boot it from cdrom and monted the boot diskt to /a and tried

installboot to install bootblk. installboot and fsck ran fine and when I rebooted , it again gave the same error.

Just curious does this mean the disk is gone ? Below finding doesn't show any hard error though.

Pelase suggest

Code:

when you booted from cdrom, did you check that the data in it is intact?
did you power off the system and retry?

Hi,

Yes I can see /etc/vfstab and /etc/passwd files.

I tried to unplug the power cable and plugging again but it didn't work.

Thanks
Pradeep

How about the rest of the files besides passwd and vfstab?
from the ok> prompt type show-disks or devalias. Are you booted from the correct disk?
Or how did you install the bootblk? can provide the command output? , just to ensure..

Not really sure.. maybe would you want to try boot from cdrom, do a OBP upgrade http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/docum...21-119234-01-1 and re-try..? all looks fine.. unless if you have another same system, you may try plugging in the disk and see if its the same result or not..

Check that your OS complies to this as well:-

9 - 4/04 (U6) **

Hi

I have been having the same issue with one of our remote systems.

Code:
{1} ok boot
Probing system devices
Probing memory
ChassisSerialNumber xxxxxx
Probing I/O buses

Sun Fire V240, No Keyboard
Copyright 2007 Sun Microsystems, Inc. All rights reserved.
OpenBoot 4.22.33, 4096 MB memory installed, Serial #xxxxxx.
Ethernet address xxxxxx, Host ID: xxxxxxx.

Rebooting with command: boot
Boot device: disk File and args:
Boot load failed.
The file just loaded does not appear to be executable.

Tried all of the previously mentioned things as well.
Tried booting from different disks on that system or the mirrors in place but to no avail.

A few days prior to running into this issue I did successfully power on and boot the system. It was also shut down gracefully after that and stayed down until I tried to bring it up again three days afterwards.

When booting from cdrom I could mount the different slices on all disks and see their contents.
Also, I got this error when booting from cdrom:

Code:
WARNING: /pci@1c,600000/scsi@2/sd@1,0 (sd1):
Error for Command: load/start/stop Error Level: Informational
