Hi Masthan,
SAN stands for Storage Area Network and LAN stands for Local Area Network..

SAN Backup means:
Taking back up of the data stored in storage area network to tapes/disks
LAN backup :
An LAN backup is a backup which is created on one computer and is stored on another remote computer connected to the same network.

A SAN backup would be done onto some kind of SAN device (NAS), which is usually attached via an FC infrastructure or regular Cat5 cabling. SAN storage usually appears like a locally attached disk.

LAN backups are made onto a device shared from a remote host, using the regular LAN infrastructure and some kind of sharing protocol (NFS/FTP/CIFS/...)

If you need more information you'll have to be a bit more specific on your requirements and existing knowledge.
