Solaris Network Interface and USB Drive issues

Hi

I had installed Sun Solaris 10 on my dell vostro 1400.Problem is iam unable to mount the usb drives as there was no detections at all.And also iam unable to find my network interface or iam not able to install the network card.

If try to type ifconfig -a

It is showing only loop back adpater only .

Here my problem is

1) Whether it is the problem with the dell support i.e whether the dell is supports the solaris platform or not?

2) So what steps should we follow to mount usb drives and what steps should we follow to install my network card

So kindly do the needful

1) solaris 10 should work to a significant amount on all generic platforms
2) fire up:
Code:
# ifconfig -a plumb <- will try to plumb all avail NIC`s
# rmmount <- dig around this command, that might get your USB drive/stick up`n`running

in any case, try to see smth going on with dmesg while trying to get your USB drive plugged in.

cheers,
nik

There is an record for the Dell Vostro 1510 in the Hardware Compatibility List: BigAdmin - HCL: Dell Vostro 1510 See the driver info section, it might help to get your network going.

I don't think, that Dell supports Solaris.
