Failure to telnet in new install Sun5.10
Hi,
I telnet to the localost in new install Sun 5.10
I get below error
I also telnet from other to this mahcine but get "access deny" after input root password.
The password is correct as I can login in console

"Not on system console
connection to unknown cloase by foregin host"

Why , I cannot telnet ?? what thing related to pam.conf ????

can you check first if telnet is enabled?
either inetadm |grep telnet or svcs telnet ?
Also check the /etc/default/login file if CONSOLE line is uncommented or commented.

Hi,
the output is below

enabled online svr:/network/telnet:default

The login file is comment out the CONSOLE line .

Please advice why I cannot telnet or ssh to the machine from other IP ....
Is it related to pam.conf file ???

contents of /etc/hosts.allow or /etc/hosts.deny files? Do you have /.rhosts implemented?

No this file in the system now .....
Even I telnet to itself machine it is failure ..
why ???

Hi,
it appear something like "connect close by foreigen host ...."
something like that ....
Please advice .....
Is it related to pam.conf file ????the auth ???
