Compilation - unable to finding include files

Hey there,
This is gotta be a stupid question, if there ever was one, but I am learning a lot by asking such questions.
Now I am trying to build this humungous library, which has all kinds a dependencies, which I realize as it makes, and i download all those dependent libs.

The compilation is failing because it says " Could not open include file <fiadate.h> " .. and of course a bunch of other rleated headers.

But I see these files a little bit up the path, but well within the lib im trying to build. Now how can I make this path visible to the makefile ?

LD_LIBRARY_PATH is just for dynamic linking right ? To make a pre-compiled library path visible to your current binary.

Thanks a ton
