Thanks! I now can get Exceed to connect to the Solaris 10 box. It seems like I have a normal CLI at the server. Any idea how to get the Display?

I tried the following:
DISPLAY=my.ip.here:0
export DISPLAY

but nothing magical happened.

That's looks like an Exceed issue not a Solaris one. Make sure your start the local X11 server on Windows before attempting connecting clients like xterm to it.

Progress

I have manged to be able to get to the CDE login window. After you log in, it says starting up CDE and then blank screen and you go back to the initial CDE login screen.

I'm betting it's a CDE package I'm missing. Anyone know a list of, or happen to know where to find a list of mandatory packages for CDE?

Cheers!

Didn't you make a full install as advised ?

A better approach might be to investigate why CDE fails to launch by looking to its log files like $HOME/.dt/startlog, errorlog, sessionlogs/*.

A little bit Closer

I tried doing a fresh install, or rather throwing in a drive I had a fresh install on and doing a "sys-unconfig" and re-ip'd it. Exceed would not work with it. Couldn't even get it to the CDE Login screen.

Here are the logs. I did not see any "errorlog" Just startlog and session. I had to enable the session log.

Code:

Not too sure what's going on. I don't even have a keyboard, mouse, or vga installed on said machine.

Any and all help is appreciated. I'm drawing blanks.

Regards.
