don't know what the aix command does... but maybe "flarcreate" is what you are looking for...

flarcreate can do that. you may still use native ufsdump

for example

Code:
su -

Code:
cd /cdrom/cdrom0/

Code:
find . -depth -print | cpio -pvdmu /

Code:
 cdrecord -scanbus

Code:
cdrecord -v blank=fast dev=x,x,x

now check size of UDF image
Code:
du -sk /var/spool/pkg/

now create a new UDF file system

Code:
mkfile -nv 1800m /var/tmp/UDFimage

create virtual device

Code:
lofiadm -a /var/tmp/UDFimage

using mkfs and fsck are allowed lofi FS

Code:
mkfs -F udfs /dev/rlofi/1 && fsck -F udfs /dev/rlofi/1

now mount it

Code:
mount -F udfs /dev/lofi/1 /mnt

now copy files
Code:
cd /; find var/spool/pkg/ -depth -print | cpio -pvdmu /mnt/

when everything is copied we may unmount FS and we will have one UDF image

Code:
umount /mnt && lofiadm -d /dev/lofi/1

and now we can burn it on DVD

Code:
cdrecord -v -pad -data -sao dev=0,1,0 /var/tmp/UDFimage

and we can verify quality

Code:
readcd dev=0,1,0 f=/dev/null

Code:
eject cdrom

Code:
exit

or you can use just flarcreate or ufsdump command

my exapmle is cheap backup on few DVD
