Please create the metadb for the 2 disks that to be mirrored, like this, with at list 3 replicas after copying the partiton table.

prtvtoc /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s2 | fmthard -s - /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0s2

metadb -afc3 c0t0d0s7 c0t1d0s7 (rootdisk and mirrordisk)
metadb (verify)

I hope this is what you're trying to do.

metainit -f d10 1 1 c0t0d0s0
metainit -f d20 1 1 c0t1d0s0
metainit d0 -m d10
metaroot d0

Code:
root@saturn # metattach d0 d20
metattach: saturn: c0t0d0s0: is mounted on /

please help

***this is the extra question, =)
how come this time need to do extra two step to overcome the problem. i got some question, kindly advise me

1. why need run this?
prtvtoc /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s2 | fmthard -s - /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0s2
metadb -afc3 c0t0d0s7 c0t1d0s7
coz previously i only need to run metainit to setup the mirror.

2. is it everytime doing mirror disk, need to run the above command?

3. "with at list 3 replicas after copying the partiton table" what is replicas ?

You are not following the proper procedure. There lies the problem Smilie
Anyway, before you do attach, you need to edit /etc/vfstab file to chane raw device to md device naming. Then reboot the system. Once rebooted, then you do metattach d0 d20
Kindly review this link

Something should definitely be wrong if this is what you've been doing. Kindly check all your systems. If your mirroring is not proper or robust, you will loose data sooner or later.

Something is really wrong. You need to be very careful. Its normal for this to happen if there is syntax problem in vfstab or something else. Redo your procedures again. Please find some help who is proficient in SVM. Boot from cdrom to single user, copy back the backup vfstab file and boot. Do the steps once over cleanly again. At least show us what's the error.
