Oracle Db on Solaris OS

What is the minimum amount of RAM a db could be made to run on solaris OS .. i just need to test high availability failover of oracle db on a VM so want to make the db as thin as possible and to make it run on least amount on memory.

It depends on what version of Oracle you're using.
I believe that with 10/11g you could start the instance with less than 512MB (and even less for the older versions), but the slowness will have a serious impact on your tests.

You could even force install the software in an unsupported test environment with:

Code:
./runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs

I also believe that with 1G of physical memory (per Oracle instance) you could run your tests nicely.
