Can't bind to outgoing vnic

Hello all,

I have set up three vnics on a machine running OSOL:

Code:
LINK OVER SPEED MACADDRESS MACADDRTYPE VID
vnic1 e1000g0 1000 2:8:20:f6:c8:50 random 0
vnic2 e1000g0 1000 2:8:20:56:41:6a random 0
vnic3 e1000g0 1000 2:8:20:b2:2c:7c random 0

Issue 1: The interfaces don't come up:

Code:
vnic1: flags=4001000842<BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4,DUPLICATE> mtu 1500 index 3
        inet 192.168.17.92 netmask ffffff00 broadcast 192.168.17.255
        ether 2:8:20:f6:c8:50
vnic2: flags=4001000842<BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4,DUPLICATE> mtu 1500 index 4
        inet 192.168.17.93 netmask ffffff00 broadcast 192.168.17.255
        ether 2:8:20:56:41:6a
vnic3: flags=4001000842<BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4,DUPLICATE> mtu 1500 index 5
        inet 192.168.17.94 netmask ffffff00 broadcast 192.168.17.255
        ether 2:8:20:b2:2c:7c

Second issue: I can't make squid bind to one of the interfaces/ip-addresses. It keeps giving me an "can't assign requested address"-error.

Does anyone know?

TIA

"DUPLICATE" flag in ifconfig output means that IP address is being used by other host in your network. Try assigning other IP addresses to those vnics.

True... I set up those services on a different host some months back.

Did not notice the DUPLICATE in those lines...

thank you!

You mean the /var/adm/messages file did not log anything?? You should have been able to spot from there first Smilie

Redirecting outgoing packets

I'd like to find out how to redirect Outbound packets. So instead of having packets go to IP1 as they normally would, have them go to IP2 instead. I believe this is possible using IPFW but I'm not sure. I've played with it, but haven't gotten too far. Any ideas would be appreciated. (1 Reply)
