You might want to add the -kv option to the boot command in the Solaris Grub entry to have the OS stop to the modular debugger and be able to read the panic message, if any.

Update and "Case Closed"-Message:

I was right about either backplane or controller. I equipped a different case with a new controller (same model, I bought two) and the same mainboard I used before. Took two old harddrives and installed the OS with a ZFS mirror plus 14x 1,5T drives as a zraid (grouped in 2x7, in case you are interested)

Things are running (for now Smilie
