From ALOM use the 'break' command to send a break during the OS boot process. That will drop you at the OK prompt. It will not work reliably during POST or OBP load, you must wait for the system to start trying to boot the OS.

Some useful stuff available at, Solaris FAQ / HOWTO [Unix/Linux systems administrator's handbook]

I'm not sure if just typing break works (never tried it), but you can try it this way:

set /HOST send_break_action=break

You can always disable autoboot from the ALOM:

set /HOST/bootmode script="setenv auto-boot? false"

Still crashing incessantly and rebooting when I go to console. Tried everything suggested so far, cannot get to OK prompt. I appreciate the help so far.

Here's what happens when I try to send a break from the sc prompt and then attempt to get to the OK prompt. Nothing but endless reboots.

Code:
sc> break
Are you sure you want to send a break to the system [y/n]? y
sc>
SC Alert: SC Request to send Break to host.
console
Enter #. to return to ALOM.
boot -s cdrom

Just cannot get to an OK prompt no matter what. So I also cannot get the box to boot from CDROM.

You will need to see the console and switch to ALOM before you sendbreak, at least with some estimation. You cant break when the system is doing probe tests..

The system does probe tests and then reboots endlessly.

Maybe you have bigger issues, like dead or faulty hardware. try to check the hardware from the SC. I believe "showfaults" or "showfaults -v" is the first thing to look at. Also try to boot without the harddrive and a cd in there.
