Memory of box
I have certain questions.

1) How can i see the memory of the unix box.

2) How can i see the size of the database on the box

3)can anyone suggest an article or tutorial that explains the concept of
file systems and mount point in UNIX.

4)How can i see the dblink on the server

I do not have much experience on UNIX.I am currently working on servers that have solaris 7 on them.

any help will be much appreciated

1. Running:
Code:
/usr/platform/`arch -k`/sbin/prtdiag -v

Will report much memory is installed on your system.

2. I will leave a dba to answer that one (I am thinking how you define what the size of a database is, its space in memory, the size of all the data and index files?)

3. The man pages for mount, mount_ufs, mount_nfs, etc. will help as will this faq.

Thanks . that was of great help . But i when i run that command the output is not found.
also i do not have prtdiag and platform as directories.

Can you please clarify more on that?

these command are not working on my version of solaris

my version of solaris is 5.6

Check your path. These commands do work on Solaris 2.6. Here is output from my 2.6 box.

$ /usr/sbin/prtconf | grep Mem
Memory size: 2048 Megabytes

$ psrinfo -v

Oracle memory usage on Solaris box

I am working on Oracle 2 node RAC 10.2.0.4 on Solaris 10 T2000 kit. The box has around 32G of memory of which 24G is used by oracle user. There is 3G of free memory on the box. my system has 128G of installed memory. top, vmstat shows the system has just over 10G of free memory on the system. but as per prstat o/p the usage is just 50-55G is there anyway i can find which process/zone is using more memory ? my box can't see full memory

Hi I'be recently installed Virtouzzo on Centos 5 on 16GB box , but the system could only see 4 GB of RAM, I installed the package kernel-PAE, but the virtuozzo kernel still can't see the full memory. even the kernel system can see 16GB of RAM is there any idea bout that ? Thanks (2 Replies)
