Solaris in a SAN BOOT

My current situation is like this, I have a v440 connected to a netapp central storage 3140 via fiber channel, my OS and oracle is installed in the internal drive of the v440.
What I would like to do is to advertise another LUN in netapp to the v440 and let my v440 boot from it so I can start installing solaris and oracle in that LUN to create a SANBOOT.
Is my way right or there is another way to do a SANBOOTSmilie? Please forgive my ignoranceSmilie

And what's the procedure in doing a that?

I dont know about NetApp. But in a typical Sun Storage, we will create the lun/volumes. Map to host. create a filesystem for the new vol/Lun that is mapped. Create a dir on the OS. mount the new raw device on the mount point.

I'm not quite sure that booting Solaris from NetApp LUNs is supported by SUN.

It can certainly be done. I have numerous Solaris servers booting from NetApp luns.

It has been quite a while since I was involved in setting this up here, so some of the steps required may have changed. For Solaris 10, section 2.1 is definitely not required.

There is an old article here: BigAdmin Feature Article: Automating the Installation of an FC-Fabric SAN Booted System

Also there were a number of the versions of FCode for some HBAs that prevented SAN boot, so you might also need to make sure that you have working versions.
