Solaris9 - qlogic HBAs - luxadm reports "Found path to 0 HBA ports"

Hi All,

I'm actually trying to configure a Qlogic HBA on a solaris9 connecting in a Brocade SAN. I installed Solaris9 and now trying to look at FC devices..

HTML Code:
bash-2.05# luxadm -e port

Found path to 0 HBA ports

bash-2.05# luxadm probe
No Network Array enclosures found in /dev/es
bash-2.05#
I installed the drivers from Qlogic, qla2300.v5.sparc_pkg

Still, i don't see the port WWN showing up on the switch.

need help on this please...! i searched online and didn't succeed yet.

Are you able to see the HBAs from prtdiag -v? Are they installed correctly?

no, i'm not seeing the WWNs
prtdiag -v | grep -i wwn

the above shows empty.

I expect that they are installed correctly 'cause i had solaris10 on this and it was working fine. i installed solaris9 and ran into this problem.

By any chance, is this a compatibility issue with V210 + qlogic 2gig (23xx) + Solaris9 ??

you should install the driver/patch used for solaris 9. also make sure that the card u used is supported for that model in sunsolve system handbook. always do a show-dev at the ok> prompt to detect the installed device before booting up the system. The hardware should see it at least, if its not even so at the OS level

if you're not connected to SAN, then you won't see the WWN here.

try this command

Code:
 # fcinfo hba-port

this should give you WWNs regardless of the connection status

OP informed that the WWN is not showing up at the SWITCH
however fcinfo hba-port will only work in Solaris 10, Not 9
