Sun's Trial Products — Try Now and Buy at 20 - 40% Off

I think it is really great that you can try out a SunFire server for 60 days, risk free.

Trial products are shipped from Sun to you so you can be sure of getting an accurate test drive. Run it for 60 days. Don't like it? Send it back. And we pay the shipping both ways.
Has anyone here used this "Try and Buy" service?

Any reviews?

i know of a lot people which use the try&buy program. mostly i'm the one who does service cause they don't know how to handle sun hardware Smilie.

Yes, I have used it in past couple of years for almost everything in the current server range.

Having said that I'm in a better position than most and can get extensions on the 60 days and servers and other hardware that aren't on the try and buy list too.

The problem is, as DN2 said, that a lot of people who take this on don't really know what they are doing and it's a wasted opportunity on both sides.

i think we've done it on t5220s and t5240s. however, sometimes i think sun just hands us stuff for beta.

It does happen, when a new server come out some of the initial seed units are pre-production. If you want to avoid this you need to be sure to ask if it is a GA version or not, from my experience there can on occasion be significant stability differences between the two.
