I would like to know how to mount and acess USB flash memory /drive on sun blade 1500 operating solaris 8

depending on the version and patchlevel and the usb drive... there can be a little to no chance to do that... but after plug in the usb drive have a look at the output of "dmesg" and "cfgadm". if you can identify the drive, you've to mount it manualy with "mount -F filesystem /dev/dsk/yourdevice /yourmountpoint"

/etc/init.d/volmgt stop

iostat -En --> check the USB cxtxdx
eg
mount -F pcfs /dev/dsk/c0t6d0s0:c /mnt

Perhaps to you mean "volmgt stop" ?

If volmgt is enable and works as expected, there would be no need to manually mount the usb device.

I don't think USB support was that complete in Solaris 8 so Vold may not mount it for you.
