Sunfire 6800 / sol 8 / scadm

Good morning all

Once again, I come seeking wisdom :-)

I have a sunfire 6800 with two domains. Both Sc controllers are uncontactabe, probably due to network issues, but as the server is on a different site, Im a little stuck.

So, am trying to use scadm, as I know I can view / configure the sc -alom via that command.

Looking for scadm, it isnt installed on my server, in either domain, nor is it install on several other servers (v440 + v240).

so, the question is this, I want the command scadm, how do I install it ? what packages ? what do I need to do ?

Once again, I thank you for your help :-)

You can't do this?
# /usr/platform/`uname -i`/sbin/scadm

check it out here: C H A P T E R 6 - Using the scadm UtilityBtw, the package is called SUNWkvm

you can't reach the sc with the command scadm! to access the system controller you have to use a serial connection or a configured network connection!

scadm can only manage servers with alom/rsc controller cards...

Ok, that rules out the 6800, I'll just have to pop down and console on to the back.

However, my v440, which has a alom, but the operating system doesnt have the scadm command within usr/platform/`uname -i`/sbin

Ive seen this before where the os doesnt have this command, so the question is, can I download the command / package ? if so, what is the name of it ?

I know that certain older servers require rcsadmin command, or whatever its called. I did download that, but obviously it never worked on my v440.

Hi duke,

That download is for RSC, and Ive already got that. It doesnt work on the v440. I think rsc is for older hardware platforms.

Do you know of a way to access the SC's from the domain ? Bascially, Ive been given the task of changing the ip's for the SC's from a 192 private network, to an IP address that is now used for all our aloms/ loms/rscadm cards. Looking at the set up, if I alter the SC ip's, Ive got to alter all the ip's for the private domain connections too.

Any advice ?
