FastDup is a tool to find identical files withindirectory trees, with a focus on the ability toscan very large trees and files in reasonableamounts of time. The use of clever techniques andoptimizations to avoid comparisons allows fastdupto significantly outperform many existingsolutions, and has a benefit of being entirely I/Obound (insignificant CPU usage). It is releasedunder a modified BSD license, allowing all use,redistribution, and modification fornon-commercial purposes.

Set the pattern used by the formatter
PARAMETERS
o $fmt
- The message formatter
o $pattern
- The pattern string to use in this message formatter. The pattern uses an 'apostrophe-friendly' syntax; it is run through
umsg_autoQuoteApostrophe before being interpreted.
RETURN VALUES
Returns TRUE on success or FALSE on failure.
