Absolute OS 12.1 Beta9 (Default branch)

Image Absolute is a lightweight Slackware Linux derivative distribution that uses an Icewm, ROX-Filer window/file manager combination. It comes with Firefox, The GIMP, MPlayer, K3B, kTorrent, Gaim, Frostwire, Gftp, StarDict, Skype, and many other titles all set up and ready to run. Several utilities are included to ease configuration and management. It is compatible with all Slackware 11 packages and can be installed just like a Slackware disk, except that you cannot choose which packages to install or remove, as it just installs everything. License: GNU General Public License (GPL) Changes:
The kernel is now at version 2.6.24.3 (smp), compatible with Pentium MMX, preemptive. A modified pcmanfm replaces ROX-Filer as the default file manager, although ROX is still running the pinboard (background/icons) and is available for file browsing. Devtray is gone, and its functionality was taken over by pcmanfm for mountable volumes and ivman for playable media. Memory consumption is down. Wicd manages wired and wireless connections. Firefox is now at version 3.0b4. linHDD.py (the drive information and formatting utility) was updated. Over 90 packages were updated to keep up with Slackware-current and GCC version bump.Image

gnome-wm - Launches the user selected window manager for the GNOME session

SYNOPSIS
gnome-wm [--default-wm windowmanager] [--sm-client-id id] DESCRIPTION
The gnome-wm script invokes the user selected window manager. If the user has not chosen a window manager it will try to launch a GNOME compliant window manager. The user can overwrite the selection of a window manager by setting the WINDOW_MANAGER environment variable. If a --default-wm option is given the script uses that window manager in case WINDOW_MANAGER is not set. If gnome-wm is given as the argument to --default-wm then it is the same as if no default was given. The script takes the --sm-client-id argument and translates the id to an appropriate option depending on which window manager was selected. ENVIRONMENT
The gnome-wm program uses the value of the WINDOW_MANAGER environment variable to let the user override the configured window manager. PERSISTENT SETTINGS
The program stores the current selection of a window manager in the gconf key /desktop/gnome/applications/window_manager/default SEE ALSO
