GTK, which stands for the Gimp ToolKit, is a library for creating graphical user interfaces. It is designed to be small and efficient, but still flexible enough to allow the programmer freedom in the interfaces created. GTK provides some unique features over standard widget libraries.

gdk-pixbuf has been enhanced to support MacOS X icons, JPEG2000 images, and loading from and saving to GIO streams. The gail module is now shipped as part of GTK+. GtkCalendar and GtkBuilder have been improved. New settings have been introduced. A test support framework and some unit tests have been implemented. Many bugfixes have been made. Translations have been updated.
