Video/Audio Streaming in C?

Hi Folks, I have just joined, and have a problem... I am doing my thesis and need to transfer a file from server to the client, while doing that I want to stream the file ( the files being video/audio files). I am unable to figure out abt the streaming part...if there exist any libraries...

       av1394 - 1394 audio/video driver

SYNOPSIS

       The  av1394  driver  is an IEEE 1394 compliant target driver that supports the IEC 61883 Consumer Audio/Video Equipment - Digital Interface
       standard. The driver is used to receive and transmit isochronous data streams in the common isochronous packet (CIP)  format,  as  well	as
       asynchronous function control protocol (FCP) frames. The driver also supports connection management procedures (CMP).
