Thanks

Here is the script I used...

It does not move directories but only files.

Files with spaces in their name will not get moved.
Ex: unix forum.pdf where as unixforum.pdf can be moved.

# !/usr/bin/ksh

cd CurrentDirectory
for i in `ls -ltr|awk '$8=="2001"{print $9}'`
do
mv $i NewDirectoryPath
done

exit 0
# 9

Use double quotes around the variable $i or change the field separator temporary:

Code:
#!/usr/bin/ksh

OIFS=$IFS
IFS=

cd CurrentDirectory

for i in `ls -ltr|awk '$8=="2001"{print $9}'`
do
  mv "$i" NewDirectoryPath
done

IFS=$OIFS

exit 0

touch -t 20040101 /tmp/beforefile.$$

for file in * ; do

done

rm /tmp/beforefile.$$
