we are giving the path as "\\\\global\\file\\dev\\" in input file

In unix shell script, we are reading the path and appending it into the another text file

echo "3|\\global\file\dev\|1800" >> test.txt

In the echo statement we are getting the issue. Can you help to handle the issue in the echo statement.

Content in text file should be:

3|\\global\file\dev\|1800
8|\\global\file\dev\|900

but while writing this into the text file, the character \f is getting changed into the special character.

echo shouldn't be doing that, but some shells have pretty weird versions of echo.

You can avoid this by using printf and single quotes.

Code:
printf "%s\n" '3|\\global\file\dev\|1800' >> filename
