1 - In this version there is the shadow file by default?. If so why when I search the file I get "No / etc / shadow file found"?
2 - What does the "*" in etc / password? at the beginning of each password?

Do you have a Trusted or Untrusted HP-UX system?
In the absence of /etc/shadow, the asterisk in the password part of the password field in /etc/passwd for an account means that the account has been locked with the passwd -l command.
Footnote: Based on your post, are you sure that you typed the commands correctly?
