awk help
Dear all,

I would like to extract the lines in text file containing certain word as below and output it to file using awk.


abc=12345,aa&bb&xx&cc
abc=23456,aa&yy&bb&cc
abc=34567,aa&bb&cc&zz

condition:

when line has xx, it will be output to filexx.txt
when line has yy, it will be output to fileyy.txt ans so forth

Welcome to unix.com forum
One simple solution is to use awk
Code:
awk -F, '{split($NF,a,"&");for(x in a){file="file"a[x]".txt";print $0 >>file;close(file)}}' file

another way is to use a shell(script), bash in this example.
Code:
#!/bin/bash
while read l
do
        IFS=\& read -r -a a <<< ${l#*,}
        for i in $a
        do
                echo ${l} >> file${i}.txt
done
done < file

Just remember: in *nix There are many ways to skin a cat and do not ignore vgersh99 question. You are responsible to learn to solve your own problems, we are here only to help where you don't understand.
