No i am not FTPing it and I am running a perl script and getting the return code using $?.

... something about the devil being in the details...

So, are you getting this error when you use the mkdir command in the command line as in:?

# mkdir somedir

... or are you getting the error while you are using the mkdir command in a perl script?

Hai System Shock,

I am getting this error when i am using mkdir inside perl script and the error code is same when i used Copy(); command too.

I needed to know what this 512 error is abt? What exactly does 512 mean?

Please read the manual (perlvar) for $?. The actual exit status is 512 / (2**8) = 2.
