Computer Help with a wc -l variable

Hello,

I am trying to get an email sent that contains information that I'm creating in a .lcf

In my email subject line I want the count of the actual lines and in the body of the email, the information from the SQL script. My problem is the SQL script comes with three lines that are like a header. I dont want those three lines part of my count in the Subject line:

variable1=`wc -l < TEST.lcf`
echo $variable1
/usr/ucb/mail -s "TEST MISSING TRADE CHECK: $variable1 MISSING TRADES" -r "FAKE@evenfaker.com" "FAKE@evenfaker.com" < TEST.lcf

My output looks like:

CARD
-----
1234
5697
8822
1111

So I actually only have four lines missing but the way it is set up currently makes my subject say 7 MISSING

Anyone know how I can make it always subtract three lines from its count?

This is a .sh

Perhaps get your line count with

Code:
variable1=`grep "^[0-9]" TEST.lcf | wc -l`

which will only look at lines that begin with a number

Thats actually pretty dang clever but sometimes the card number can start with Alphanumeric. Im going to save that though for possible future use. nice. (Im a unix rookie)

Or Try:
variable1=`tail +4 TEST.lcf |wc -l`
echo $variable1
/usr/ucb/mail -s "TEST MISSING TRADE CHECK: $variable1 MISSING TRADES" -r "FAKE@evenfaker.com" "FAKE@evenfaker.com" < TEST.lcf

You might want to set the feedback off, else your mail might show the count as 1, when your files look something like:

CARD
-----
No rows selected
