Does anyone know of a way to convert "seconds" to time of day in "hh:mm:ss" ?

Trying to do in awk with strftime but with no luck.

Wait.. are you trying to convert seconds since midnight, or the seconds since the unix epoch? o.O

Well if it is from the unix epoch (basically a unix timestamp), you can get the hours/minutes like this:

-bash-3.00$ date -d @1232571888 +%H:%M:%S
15:04:48

That will be going with the HH:MM:SS format. 24 hour format, since you did not want PM/AM on it.

Rhije, first of all thanks for taking the time to look at my problem.

I don't think I was clear enough on my problem.

There are:
86400 seconds in a 24 hour period

I wanted to take the time in seconds during a 24 period and convert to HH:MM:SS

example:
43200 seconds should be 12:00:00

I wanted to be able to convert any second of the day to the HH:MM:SS
3600 would be 1am, etc...
