passing a variable inside another variable.
Any help would be great. I know this is a dumb way of doing this, but I would like to know if there is a solution doing it this way. I'm very new at this and I'd like to learn more. Thanks! SmilieSmilie

while [ count -lt 5 ]; do
echo "enter your name"
read name_$count
let count=count+1
done

count=0
while [ count -lt 5 ]; do
echo "Your name is $name_$count"
let count=count+1
done

I would like the output to be the five names entered in the first loop.

This will work for you. But not exactly like you was trying.

Code:
declare -a name
count=0
while [ "$count" -lt 5 ]
do
        echo "Name:"
        read name[$count]
        count=`expr $count + 1`
done

count=0
while [ "$count" -lt 5 ]
do
        echo "Name was ${name[$count]}"

        count=`expr $count + 1`
done

# 3
