how to read the variable from config file

eg: a.cfg below config file config file which contain

a=`hostname`
b=250


a.sh is shell script

echo "$a and $b"

if i run "a.sh 1.cfg" it works

but when i declare N number of variable it wont works..
can u please suggest for that ?

Given this config file:

#File: a.cfg
a=`hostname`
b=250


If both files are in the same directory, then put the following line at the top of your "a.sh" shell script:

#File: a.sh
. ./a.cfg
echo "$a $b"

That should work.
Putting the "dot" space "dot" slash config file is called sourcing a file.
The variables are "dotted in" and become part of the environment of the shell process.

Another way is to export the variables before running your shell script.

export a=`hostname`
export b=250

then run your script:

./a.sh
