how to make different two process

Hi All,

I'm not very skilled in unix programming so I need your help for somethink that probably is very easy for you to solve.

Basically I need to run a process script from two diffrent path using the same user. Sometimes I need to restart one of them when I try to found the right process in order to kill it I become confused because running "ps -aef" I found the two process with only the difference related to date of start and with the same command line so I cannot understand what is the process I need to kill.

A great solution form my purpose could be add the path from where I run the script into command line of the process.
Is this solution reasonable and applicable?

Thanks in advance

you are correct. instead of running them as:
Code:
$ ./your_script

run them as:
Code:
$ /path/to/dir1/your_script

and
Code:
$ /path/to/dir2/your_script

so that in the output of ps -ef, you could identify them based on the directory path
