script optimization
Smilie Hi,

I am writing a script in which at some time, I need to get the process id of a special process and kill it...

I am getting the PID as follows...

Code:
 ps -ef | grep $PKMS/scripts | grep -v grep |  awk '{print $2 }'

can we optimize it more further since my script already doing lot of other things, I am not getting better idea.

Please help!

You can get the pid using
- echo $$ #for current pid
- echo $! # for last command pid
# 3

You can replace grep $PKMS/scripts | grep -v grep with just "grep $PKMS/script[s]"

seems you knew the name of the process to kill,

try pkill
