its only the permission i want opposite so wouldn't that be
find ./datdir -size +30k \( ! -perm 200 \) -ls

These two ways give the same result.
find ./datdir \( -size +30k -a ! -perm 200 \) -ls
find ./datdir -size +30k ! -perm 200 -ls
# 10

how do i get it to look through directory, and all contained subdirectories, for names of files that are larger than the specified size

find /path -szie value = value

Try reading the man page for find - when you ahve a command like -szie or -mtime
the values for them like -mtime 9 can have signs on them on simply be numbers.
When they are numbers it means equal, + means greater than, - means less than.

-mtime -10 means less than ten days old, -size +40 means "greater than 40".

i understand i was looking at the man pages
i been working with is
find ./datdir -size +30k ! -perm 200 -ls
and trying to figure what i could add on so it can look in the subdirectories and files within the search
