Question How To Neglect Delimiter
Hi all
Iam having a text file of records seperated by "SPACE"
and another text File of Records seperated by "TAB"
i'm writing a Generic code for Extracting Duplicate Records
Iam using "cut" Command to extract data.

How Can I Neglect Delimiter And write a generic code for all cases


Any one help me by providing a solution

Maybe have a look into awk - it's very handy for use with fields since it's default field separator is any kind of blank/space/tab etc. But whatever tool you are using, you will always have to tell it by what fields are separated.

Is there any way to convert a delimiter (space/tab/pipe)
to another while retriving data.

for Ex: If its space delimited can i convert it to pipe before writing into another file.

As I already said, you should have a look into the 1001 awk manuals, tutorial etc. on the net. There is the OFS, output field separator. No offense, but I think a look into the basic mechanics of awk will be a good thing.
