How to findDuplicate Records in a text file

Pls
Any one help me in

sort file | uniq -d

(Might be applicable only to GNU uniq. The -d option prints only duplicate lines.)

sort file | uniq -c |sort

first the file will be sorted and
uniq -c will group all the receords based on the values/line and the count.
Again if you sort,

it will display the duplicate records at the bottom and will show how many no of times it occurs in that file.
