how to pass time stamp of a file from one server to another......

We have a requirement wherein we have two servers namely A and B.
Now we have to find out all the files in server B from a given location which have a timestamp greater than a file in server A.
Subsequently we need to concatenate the contents of all these files and replace the same with the file in server A.

So the issue here is how do we pass on the detail of the timestamp from server A to server B.

if you want to get the time stamp you can get it with ls -ltr. then use awk to get the time stamp only. Now if you want to send that through network there are lots of ways to do that.

Check rsh command to do that.

if you want to compare timestamp of files of local machine and remote machine try following steps
1)conect to server A via ftp
2)go to required location in server A by usig cd
3)then type
dir . temp
this will make the list of all the files of remote server A in a temp file in local machine
4)then disconnect from server A comapre timestamp
hope it will help

Assuming you have "rcp" working and the timestamp file is small.
From Server B copy the time stamp file preserving the file creation date and time.

rcp -p timestampfile /tmp/timestampfile

You can then use "find" with option "-newer /tmp/timestampfile" on Server B.
