Shell Programming and Scripting

Hi , i am having some problem with re-reading the same file in AWK.

here is the scenario.

function 1 {


some_string > " file1 " # i have redirected output to file1.

...........
........
}

Now in

function 2 {

while( getline line < "file1" )

{
print(line);
}
}
print(line) is printing file recordwise thats fine but my scenario is like function 2 will be called again n again . when function 2 is called second time while ( getline line > "file1" ) line doest contain any value "getline line<"file1" statement is not true hence unable to read file1.

any help regarding this :-)
