Problem with changing value in file

I am writting this statement

crt=`sed -n '2,$p' ${my_path}/files/${T_target}_${today}_DDL.txt | tr -d '\n' '' `


This thing is wrkng fine,.nw I want to change a particular string in my file and I am changing above line to

crt=`sed -n '2,$p' ${my_path}/files/${T_target}_${today}_DDL.txt | tr -d '\n' '' | tr -s "USER_WORK" "RAROC_WORK_D1"`



But its not wrlng properly. can u help me

tr works on single characters, one at a time

change
Code:
| tr -s "USER_WORK" "RAROC_WORK_D1"`

to
Code:
| sed 's/USER_WORK/RAROC_WORK_D1/'`
