Not getting the full scope of your question. B'cos normally xml files will be without line termination and will be in a single lines with many tags.

Suppose if your XML file is terminated with newlines, then from that XML with wat condition you wat those 50 lines?

Can you pls show some XML content and explain more abt your Q?

Here is the sample from the XML
<DECLARATION>
<DECLGROUP>
<VALUE.OBJECT>
...........
..........
........
</VALUE.OBJECT>
</DECLGROUP>
</DECLARATION>

I know the position of <DECLARATION> in that XML and I have to copy upto next 50 lines in another lfile.
what could be the possible solution.
Thanks for your reply

Code:
awk '/start/,/END/' Filename

or

sed -n '/start/,/End/p' Filename

or

sed -n '10,60p' filename

the first awk and the second sed will be useful to gethe the line between a start_string to end_string.

Suppose if you know the exact FROM and TO line numbers then you can use the third sed command.

A better way might be to use a XSLT processor with a XSL stylesheet containing the xsl-copy-of element as shown by the following example
Code:
$ cat demo.xml
<ROOT>
  <EXAMPLE>
     <DECLARATION>
        <DECLGROUP>
           <VALUE.OBJECT>
             <DEMO>demontrate xsl:copy-of</DEMO>
           </VALUE.OBJECT>
        </DECLGROUP>
     </DECLARATION>
  </EXAMPLE>
</ROOT>

Code:
$ cat demo.xsl
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">

<xsl:output method="xml" omit-xml-declaration="yes"/>

<xsl:template match="/ROOT/EXAMPLE/DECLARATION">
   <xsl:copy-of select="." />
</xsl:template>

</xsl:stylesheet>

Code:
$ xslproc demo.xsl demo.xml

     <DECLARATION>
        <DECLGROUP>
           <VALUE.OBJECT>
             <DEMO>demontrate xsl:copy-of</DEMO>
           </VALUE.OBJECT>
        </DECLGROUP>
     </DECLARATION>
