If I have file and I m performing GREP on it

ARC_CNT=`cat ${my_path}/DSW_Archive_`date +%Y%m%d`.log | grep "UTY8713 RDBMS failure" | wc -l`

its shwng

cat: cannot open ./DSW_Archive_
blank.sh: .log: not found

What can be the problem , file is also existing

I dont think backticks within another pair of backtips are supported. Separate them out as
Code:
FILE=${my_path}/DSW_Archive_$(date +%Y%m%d).log
ARC_CNT=$(grep "UTY8713 RDBMS failure" ${FILE} | wc -l)

If you want to nest backquotes, you need to escape the inner ones. This quickly gets out of hand, so if you can use $(...) instead of `...` that nests more gracefully.

Your script contains a Useless Use of Cat and a Useless Use of Wc, by the way.

Code:
ARC_CNT=`grep -c "UTY8713 RDBMS failure" ${my_path}/DSW_Archive_\`date +%Y%m%d\`.log`
# or, if your shell is new enough,
ARC_CNT=$(grep -c "UTY8713 RDBMS failure" ${my_path}/DSW_Archive_$(date +%Y%m%d).log)

my_path=`dirname $0`
while read TABLE2EXP
do
echo "EXPORTING TABLE: ${TABLE2EXP}"
${my_path}/FEXP.sh ${TABLE2EXP} >> ${my_path}/DSW_Archive_`date +%Y%m%d`.log
echo "FINISHED FEXP: ${TABLE2EXP}"
done < ${my_path}/TABLE_LIST_UPDATED.txt
echo "EXPORTING OF ALL THE TABLES COMPLETED
today=`date +%Y%m%d`
CNT=`cat DSW_Archive_${today}.log | grep "UTY8713 RDBMS failure" | wc -l`
echo $CNT

when i m writting this, I am getting this

EXPORTING OF ALL THE TABLES COMPLETED
today=20080917
CNT= RDBMS failure | wc -l
