Help on zip

if you have a file that is zipped and has various files within can you add a file to this at all?

i.e. ZIP folder called logs.zip - contains files zip1, zip2, zip3

need to add build.zip (contains file zip4) to logs.zip so logs.zip will now look like this - zip1.zip2.zip3,zip4?

can this be done and if so how?

help would be appreciated

Tools You can normaly add to an existing zip

Take a look at the following, showing how another file was added to an existing zip archive.

Code:
> ll
total 48
drwxrwx--- 2 xxxxxxx dp 512 Jun 6 11:15 ./
drwxrwx--- 78 xxxxxxx dp 2560 Sep 11 06:23 ../
-rw-rw---- 1 xxxxxxx dp 135 Jun 6 11:15 file1
-rw-rw---- 1 xxxxxxx dp 24 Jun 6 11:15 output_a
-rw-rw---- 1 xxxxxxx dp 12 Jun 6 11:15 output_b
-rwxrwx--- 1 xxxxxxx dp 723 Jun 6 11:14 sep_to2*

Create zip archive
Code:
> zip zip1.zip output_a output_b
  adding: output_a (deflated 29%)
  adding: output_b (stored 0%)

Add one more file to zip archive
Code:
> zip zip1.zip sep_to2
  adding: sep_to2 (deflated 66%)
> ll
total 56
drwxrwx--- 2 xxxxxxx dp 512 Sep 15 06:33 ./
drwxrwx--- 78 xxxxxxx dp 2560 Sep 11 06:23 ../
-rw-rw---- 1 xxxxxxx dp 135 Jun 6 11:15 file1
-rw-rw---- 1 xxxxxxx dp 24 Jun 6 11:15 output_a
-rw-rw---- 1 xxxxxxx dp 12 Jun 6 11:15 output_b
-rwxrwx--- 1 xxxxxxx dp 723 Jun 6 11:14 sep_to2*
-rw-rw---- 1 xxxxxxx dp 672 Sep 15 06:33 zip1.zip
> mkdir unz
> cd unz
/home/xxxxxxx/tmp/sep2files/unz

In a new directory, unzip the archive; can see all three files were in the zip archive.
Code:
> unzip ../zip1.zip
Archive: ../zip1.zip
  inflating: output_a
 extracting: output_b
  inflating: sep_to2
> ll
total 40
drwxrwx--- 2 xxxxxxx dp 512 Sep 15 06:33 ./
drwxrwx--- 3 xxxxxxx dp 512 Sep 15 06:33 ../
-rw-rw---- 1 xxxxxxx dp 24 Jun 6 11:15 output_a
-rw-rw---- 1 xxxxxxx dp 12 Jun 6 11:15 output_b
-rwxrwx--- 1 xxxxxxx dp 723 Jun 6 11:14 sep_to2*
