How to check file size before and after FTP

I want to trasfer file from

1. Unix server A to server B
2. Unix server A to windows directory

Is there a way to check the size before and after FTP.

I want to check the size of the file in server A before FTP and in server B after FTP in case 1

In case 2 I want to check the size of the file in server A before FTP and windows after FTP.

I am performing FTP from Server A in both cases. I am using AIX. I am not able to find related threads.

ftp supports the command ls. Some admins in paranoid envrionments can turn that off via chroot.

From AIX -> Windows the command
Code:
ftp> ls <filename>

does give a file size in bytes as it is the default behavior of the DOS command DIR.

on AIX -> AIX connections try
Code:
ls -l <filename>

the ftp> !<some command> command may let you run a local to your AIX box command. This may work on your flavor of ftp. I have no way to know.

try ftp> help
for more information. Also look at the ftp> quote command in help.
