empty the dir

i have dir called stock1. it has some 2000 files

How to remove/empty the dir in one shot?

i tried this command,but its not working

rmdir stock1/* stock1/.*

thanks a lot i got with this command

find . -name "file*" -exec rm -f {} \;
# 4

i usually use: rm -fr stock1 to del the directory!

Bug Removes directory and all files in it

Removes directory and all files in it:

rmdir -rf stock1
