Hi,
The following things I want to do..plz help me...

1) Connect to remote machine(UNIX) by using telnet(by giving usr_nm & passwd)
2) Execute a commands (may be sql query) & store the result
3) Do ftp of the stored result into my local machine(WINDOW)

For all this I am using window command prompt.
The main problem here is to execute the command and get back the result into the local machine

Have you considered using an SSH client instead of telnet? For example, you could download PuTTY and use the plink.exe to run the remote commands, and then pscp.exe to downlaod the output.

No I didn't think using SSH whether I could do or not!.But can you plz show me this with simple example?
Actually I need the result from the unix remote machine and store the result into local window machine.(The data are actually the result we got by a dbaccess informix query run in the remote unix machine) I need this data for further manipulation using JAVA GUIs Application.

Why not use a proper ODBC connection to the Informix database rather than this convoluted method?

Because for ODBC connection we need INFORMIX driver and this is not free and if it is free then It is for a limited evaluation period.
So I don't want to use ODBC. Instead I can use telnet or SSH..

The easiest way with plink would be to write a script on the remote server that does the query and sends the output to stdout. Then you can just run:

You would need to set up a PuTTY session named 'hostname' with a private/public key pair so that no password was required to make the connection.
