ssh scripting

Hi,
I'm trying to write a script that will ssh into a number of boxes and run 'top' and 'ps', then output the results to a file with the hostname. The script only seems to run top or ps on the local machine though. Any help would be apperciated
Code:
#ssh into box
while read box
do ssh -n $box  -l $username;
      ./runaway;
done < "boxes.txt"

#runaway is a separate file but here it is
#ps -Aalf> test.txt
echo `hostname` >> test.txt
top -b -d 3 -n 1 >> test.txt

Just provide the command on the ssh command-line:

Code:
while read box
do
    ssh -n $box  -l $username 'hostname ; top -b -d 3 -n 1' >> $box.txt
done < "boxes.txt"

Thanks, that does work, and I may end up using it, I was wondering though is there any way to do it in two diffrent files so that you just ssh into the box start another script to run the commands, and continue on ssh'ing so Its not sitting at every box waiting to return. There are quite a few boxes and I'm not sure how reasonable it would be to have to do everyone 1 by 1

Just background each process as you run it using &. I've also added a sleep to the loop to throttle it a bit... if there are many boxes and launch hundreds of ssh processes in parallel the CPU impact can be quite high.

Code:
while read box
do
    ssh -n $box  -l $username 'hostname ; top -b -d 3 -n 1' >> $box.txt &
    sleep 1
done < "boxes.txt"
