@zaxxon sed 's!\/prod\/!\/devl\/!2' this one worked for me. would you mind telling me what the '!' & '2' character is for.

sed 's/prod/devl/2' filename did to but wasn't able to change all the lines on my text

sed 's/\([a-z]*\) \([0-9a-z/.]*\) \/prod/\1 \2 \/devl/' this one did the job to but was very complicated for a newbie like me.

Simple:
\([a-z]*\) it's the first word
\([0-9a-z/.]*\) the second word that can contain numeric values [0-9]
\/prod just a word, slash needs to be "\"
\1 \2 are words that have been matched by first and second group \([a-z]*\) and \([0-9a-z/.]*\) in this case
\/devl/ it replaces \/prod
